A solo exhibition in UNSW’s Black Box space. These works were originally intended for an upcoming exhibition at Kudos Gallery, which would have functioned as my MFA assessment show. Due to the COVID19 pandemic this show had to be postponed.
In engineering terms a ‘black box’ is a device, system or object that hides any knowledge of its internal workings. The works in the show are made from LCD screens embedded within sculptures made from the wiring looms of wrecked cars. They play with this idea of inside/outside; the wiring looms are typically hidden away inside the car, here they have become an exterior shell for LCD screens hidden within them. They spill out into the gallery space inviting the viewer to come closer.
